Unlike many other sexuality curricula currently available, Amourology is not focused solely on preventing or reducing problems such as high rates of sexually transmitted infections and unintended teen pregnancies. While the program certainly equips youth with the knowledge, attitudes, and skills to avoid these consequences, it has a more proactive goal of helping youth to become sexually healthy people who feel good about themselves and their bodies, remain healthy, and build positive, equitable loving relationships.
In an inclusive developmentally appropriate manner, this program addresses sensitive topics that are excluded from many sexuality curricula. The program recognizes and respects the diversity of participants with respect to sex, gender identity, gender expression, sexual orientation, and disability status.
Classes will begin in an online format (due to covid-19) on Wed, Sep 16th, 2020 (7-9th grade) and TBA (10-12th grade) and will run on a weekly basis with breaks in conjunction with the school schedule. At least one parents or guardians is required to attend an orientation prior to their child attending classes. Follow the button below to learn more about classes, orientation, and to sign up. See you soon!

Justice and Inclusivity
All people have the right to sexuality education.
Sexuality is a good part of the human experience.
Sexuality includes much more than sexual behavior.
Human beings are sexual from the time they are born until they die.
It is natural to express sexual feelings in a variety of ways.
People engage in healthy sexual behavior for a variety of reasons including to express caring and love, to experience intimacy and connection with another, to share pleasure, to bring new life into the world, and to have fun and relax.
Sexuality in our society is damaged by violence, exploitation, alienation, dishonesty, abuse of power, and the treatment of persons as objects.
It is healthier for young teens to postpone sexual intercourse.
Sexuality encompases nearly every aspect of our being from attitudes and values, to feelings and experiences. It is influenced by the individual, family, culture, religion/spirituality, laws, professions, institutions, science and politics. Amourology recognizes that most sexuality education encompasses only a few of these circles but to become a whole sexual being, teens must learn from all aspects of the circle.
Parents are the primary sexuality educators of their children. Amourology seeks to open and strengthen communication between parents and youth. It directly and indirectly encourages youth to have conversations with their parents about a variety of sexuality issues. That does not mean that it is always productive for parents to question their adolescent children each week about what they learned, but rather to look for opportunities to listen to and engage them in conversation.

Due to the unpredictable nature of Covid-19 I have decided to move all classes to an online format. I am confident that adolescents can gain the valuable tools they need in an online format despite the challenges that come with this learning environment. If you have questions about what this will look like and what steps are being taken to ensure participation and constructive learning feel free to email me at .
Class schedule is based off of the Salt Lake County School District schedule but students outside of this area are encouraged to enroll. Afterall, online classes do not have the same geographical constraints as in person classes and it would be wonderful to have people take advantage of that. If we need to adjust the schedule based off of group needs we can do so.
7-9th Grade Curriculum: Begins Wed Sep 16th, 2020 6:30pm-8:00pm MTN and runs on a weekly basis with breaks in conjunction with school. There are twenty five 90-minute workshops in total.
